The Gov Club is the William Blount High
School Football Team's Booster Club. Our mission and purpose
is to provide fundamental needs to the football program in excess
of those covered by the athletic department as well as provide
support and team spirit for our teenage athletes. Our projects
begin with pre-season fundraising and continue to the year-end
banquet. Much of the monies raised fund pre-game meals for all
the players as well as the Thursday night post-practice team
meals. With approximately eighty five teenage football players,
and potentially three meals a week during the season, that's
a lot of grub. But that's not the whole picture. We help fund
miscellaneous expenditures that come up throughout the season
as well. We provide assistance with maintenance projects to
the field and facilities, and we help provide communication
to the William Blount community at large through the programs,
web site, and media. The biggest project we've taken on to date
is the Gov House ~ the new field
house sitting adjacent to the stadium. This 3,200 square-foot
building has a large meeting area for players to congregate
for film review, pre-game/half-time/post-game meetings, and
walk-throughs. Four years ago, the Gov Club assisted the Blount
County School System in remodeling the press box. The THREE-TIER
version will provide much more room for both our coaching staff,
visiting coaches, media, and guests. Last summer, the Gov Club
completely remodeled the Varsity Locker rooms. With the dedication
of several fathers, the project was completed with no cost to
the football program. Thank you all, for your hard work. This years major project will be to repaint the fence surrounding the football field.
The Gov Club would like to thank all the players, parents, fans,
and businesses that are helping us grow the William Blount football
program. And it IS growing. We invite you to come on board.
